Encouraging DE Participation in the North Atlantic Coast Comprehensive Study
  • In response to membership concerns regarding protection of the beach environment from future storms, BBLA implored the Governor to take advantage of the Army Corps of Engineers current study.
  • After the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the Corps reached out to States with coastal communities to work with them in developing programs and projects that would help build resilience to storms.
  • BBLA stressed the value to be achieved from the study participation (proactive/reactive mitigation plans, post-event remediation funding) for the coastal towns.
  • Ten states and the District of Columbia were invited to study participants - DE has yet to sign-on.
