ACTION NEEDED
 
  • Learn about the U.S. Wind Construction and Operations Plan - approved by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) - next level of review and public comment being scheduled
  • Watch for more info re Orsted/Skipjack Project (19 miles off BB coastline) - project about 18 months behind U.S. Wind in the approval process
  • Sign up for the 35th Annual DE Coastal Cleanup - BB is one of the 41 sites throughout the State - Event Day is 9/17/22 & registration is required by 8/31

Town Council Election Will NOT be Held in 2022
 
  • Two Council Members did not file this year as return candidates (Frye & Denault)
  • Only two people registered to be considered as new candidates
  • No election is necessary
  • Be sure to thank our departing members for their service to BB
  • Ron Calef and Mickey Hinman will be welcomed to the Town Council in September

Funds Secured in State Budget for Neighborhood Construction Projects:
  • Collins Street Pathway Project
  • Lake Bethany Bulkhead Design Project
  • Special thanks to Asst. Town Manager Terry Tieman for working with our local legislators in securing the funds
 
Town Council Approved Funds for Contract to the Traffic Group for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Study:
  • Overarching study begins this August
  • Initial data due in 4-6 months

BBLA Member Helping Keep BB Safe:
  • Jill Boova contacted BBLA re safety problem at Kent & Rt. 26
  • BBLA provided guidance in addressing the Town officials
  • New signage now installed warning motorists of pedestrians and cyclists entering the roadway & reminding pedestrians and cyclists how to properly walk and ride with traffic
 
  • Board Member Diane Fogash serves on the Town Committe for Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety
  • Two recent checkpoint sites conducted by BB police (hope you saw the BBLA Instagram posts!)

  • Construction lights in place for "family/ friends fun" after dark
